Tonya Adams is driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference for people and their families. At Regence, Tonya leads strategy and execution for Health Plan Operations functions including Enrollment and Group Administration, Customer and Provider Service, Claims, Provider Operations, Payment Integrity and eSolutions, Technical Services, Operations Compliance and Audit, Health Plan Operational Excellence and Operations Planning and Business Management. Tonya is also responsible for the overall performance of the Customer Experience team, with the goal of simplifying the consumer journey and supporting Regence’s Consumer Obsession objectives and is a leader in Regence’s efforts to promote and achieve health equity for our members and communities.

In 2020 Tonya became the national spokesperson for the White House’s Vaccine Community Connectors campaign to overcome social determinants of health to improve equality and breakdown barriers to vaccine access for Americans in the most at-risk communities. VCC was launched by AHIP and Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.

Tonya is a seasoned health care executive with 20 years of health plan business and operational experience leading large teams in a variety of areas. She has a passion for serving customers and leading organizations through change, resulting in strategic solutions and initiatives for world-class service operations that create greater efficiencies, reduce administrative costs, and improve customer experience.

Before joining Regence, Tonya was Vice President of Operations for Molina Healthcare in California, where she was responsible for enrollment and billing, appeals and grievances, claims adjustments, and payment integrity. Tonya has also held senior leadership positions with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Anthem.

Tonya has a bachelor’s degree in management from Indiana Wesleyan University. She lives in Portland with her husband, Jon, and has a daughter, Deanna, who lives in Chicago. In addition to her avid support of the American Heart Association, where she currently serves as a board member, Tonya has been board member for UNCF and is currently involved with Girls Inc-PNW.
