Endowments
When we invest in community health partners that advance equity through whole person health, we directly influence the overall well-being of the communities we serve. Endowment investing creates longer-term impact that allows our partners to innovate beyond what they could typically do. Current investments endowed by the Cambia Health Foundation reflect our ongoing commitment to advancement of palliative care innovation and include:
Cambia Palliative Care Center of Excellence at University of Washington: In 2014, Cambia Health Foundation invested in three permanent endowments with University of Washington and one current use fund as a reflection of its enduring commitment to building palliative care clinical and educational programs. The endowments support three areas of focus in the palliative care space: education and training, leadership in clinical programs and innovative research projects.
Oregon Health & Science University: The Cambia Health Foundation invested in OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital resulting in the development of the Bridges Palliative Care Program, a compassionate, research-based palliative care program for children. The program was the first of its kind in Oregon, supporting families across the state as well as southwest Washington. A second endowment with OHSU funds an endowed chair in pediatric palliative care to advance access, awareness and innovation in the field of palliative care.
University of California, San Francisco: In 2020, Cambia Health Foundation created an endowed fund for palliative care innovation with the University of California, San Francisco Division of Palliative Medicine. The establishment of UCSF’s Division of Palliative Medicine in 2018 represented a major step forward for the field of palliative care, and this endowment supports symposiums and innovative projects focusing on palliative care.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Intermountain Area: In 2021, Cambia Health Foundation endowed a Family Support Specialist position within Ronald McDonald House Charities Intermountain Area to provide a continuum of care to support behavioral health. This endowed staff position enhances the support families receive by applying the principles of social work, behavioral health, and palliative care, resulting in impactful family-centered-care.
